The textural complexities
found in the works of Dayton Claudio are both conceptually
and visually arresting. In The Name of the Rose, he uses
old book
covers, scrap metal and other artifacts suggesting layers
of memory. Coupling this mastery with an infallible sense
of color, he is able to produce works that are monumental
in both size and scope.
Claudio earned a BA in fine arts from the
University of California, an MA in fine arts from California
State University, and his MFA from San Jose State University.
He creates primarily commissioned pieces for private, public
and corporate collections. Commissions include art for the
Federal Courthouse Project, Pocatello, ID and the Mather
General Aviation Terminal Project in Sacramento, CA, commissioned
by the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission.

by Claudio, please contact galleryNOW. Also, Dayton has
made available photographs on archival paper from a series
of figure drawings.
