IN MEMORIUM
We at galleryNOW extend our
deepest sympathy to the family and friends of artist
Alberto Donat, who died in 2004. We will continue
to offer his astonishingly beautiful and technically
masterful paintings. He will be missed.
|
While the works of Alberto Donat brim with
symbolism, there is no hint of symbolism over substance.
Quite the opposite. The works of this Cuban-born artist
burst with spirit, style and intelligence. His subtle colors
and bold shapes are carefully choreographed to create a
mature sense of balance and poise. Simultaneously, his medley
of images evokes from us a deep, almost reverent appreciation
for the spiritualism within.
Born in Santi-Spiritus, Las Villa, Cuba, Donat studied in
New York. His work first drew attention at the third Pan-American
Exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
where it won an honorable mention. Since then it has become
part of many permanent collections including those of the
Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, DC, The Tampa Museum,
FL, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo da Universidade de Sao Paulo,
Brazil, and the Museo Contemporaneo de Toledo, Spain.
